This is Wayne with a sports update. I wanted to talk a little bit about what's going on in college football, but wanted to focus on 3 quarterbacks from the 09 season it's just been on my mind, Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy. All 3 great college quarterbacks, all 3 had a goal for the 09 season, to when a National Title, improve draft stock, but all 3 wanted to end their colleges careers with a bang. But due to the events that happened these past few months going back to September, with Sam Bradford hurting his shoulder in the first game of the season, Tim Tebow losing out on the chance to make history with 3 National titles to add to his resume, not only that people are starting to doubt whether Tim Tebow can become a NFL starting quarterback in my opinion I believe he has what it takes to become an NFL starting quarterback.
Then with Colt McCoy, I felt he was the best quarterback of this 09 season, but me personally I really feel for this guy, throughout his college career he's come up short for the Heisman trophy twice, then finally gets a shoot at the National Title and gets a freak injury to the shoulder and was unable to play his final college game.
The 3 of these players can definately make it as NFL starting quarterbacks, but honestly if it were me in their shoes I would of entered the 09 NFl Draft, last year Tim Tebow would of been the number 1 overall pick, Sam Bradford decided to stay along with Colt McCoy, and now you see why people such as Mark Sanchez decided to leave because if he would of stayed, he's draft stock would of gone done being that USC had an off season this year due to so many young players on this team. But with Tim Tebow losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship game is making a big impact on how people see him as a future quarterback at the next level due to his long release and so on, but dude to his hardwork ethic I have no doubt in my mind that he will become a starting NFL quarterback, will he start this year in the 2010 season? Maybe yes maybe no, he has to start from the bottom up, if I was an NFL coach I would do just as he started out in Florida, let him play preseaon and the regular season mix him in and out in a way the Eagles rotate Mcnabb and Vick, slowly but surely he will advance.
With Bradford and McCoy, they both get unfortunate injuries and all of a sudden everyone believes they can't take a hit. People remember this is football ok, they both play Division 1 football this is pretty much the big leagues of college athletics, injuries are going to happen, no matter how great you are an injury will happy it's unfortunate. The same way Tim Tebow was regarded as unstoppable, he gets one bad hit doing a game resulting in a concusion everyone now doubts he can take NFL big hits. You have to understand this is one of the most dangerous sports out there, even an elite football player as Tom Brady gets wacked every now and than, so to assume their not tough and to say that their draft stock will go down is just crazy to think that.
And going back to Tim Tebow, if it's not broke don't fix it, he knows how to win games, 2 National Titles and a Heisman Trophy has broken pretty much every record at Florida, it's not a fluke why he's gonna be considered one of the greatest to ever play in college. Work with him, teach him a quicker release and get him the game experience, you can't just go off and say move him to Hback, he has the drive so let him drive to become a NFL quarterback it can be done.
