Just something that's on my mind, earlier people where complaining in my class about how much NFL NBA MLB players earn. Which I completely disagree with. What people don't understand, do you know how great you have to be to become a professional athlete? It's a reason why 1,000's of people can play a college sport, but only around 200 athletes get drafted into the NFL every year, but it doesn't stop there, you have to make the team also, so for those who are drafted make the team and peform acceptional at the next level it's not an easy thing do. Give them credit 1,000's of football athletes enter the draft every year, out 1,000's among 1,000's you were choosen among the elite 200 college students to go pro. It's insulting to say this to an athlete they don't deserve to get the money the make, let me ask you this, say you wanted to become a Doctor, you went through 4 years of college, 3-4 years of med school, and you have to put in at least 2, 3 maybe 4 or more years to be considered a doctor. Now you did all of this and now your making 6 figure salaries, but then a person says oh you don't deserve it, you put in so much work to get where you are today, but because a person who works 8 bucks an hour wants to complain because Eli is making around 100 million, get over it, maybe you should of worked harder in school to become something.
And think about this people, the NFL MLB and the NBA are multi billion dollar organization, owners, general managers make more money then NFL players will ever see. With this in mind, what are you guys expecting athletes to earn a year? 50,000 a year no, 100,000 no, to pay these athletes 5 or 6 figures is an insult, it's criminal. These athletes generate so much money, so much revenue through the NFL video games, jersey and other products, ticket sells and way more, and also the players have to perform to perfection, do you really think it would be justified to pay Payton, Eli, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, do you think it would justified to play them 5 or 6 figures? No, no it wouldn't. The NFL use these players to make money, so you have to pay them millions and millions of dollars, and honestly people just stop complaining, because no matter how much you complain and whine, your still gonna watch the NFL or NBA or MLB. You don't like a rookies 72 million dollar contract your still gonna play or play against him in the madden game... just get over it. If you work hard, you deserve the money. Oh and another thing, I get people who ask well why don't the WNBA or the CFL or whatever, why don't they get the NFL contracts? Really, how many of you, let me ask you how many of you rush home from work, or from where your going to watch the Connecticut Suns vs the LA Sparks? Or to see a CFL game? Non of you, non of you do. If the WNBA was a bigger Market than the NFL which it will never be bigger I'm not being mean just how it is, nothing will beat out the NFL, but if it was a bigger market then the NFL the women of the WNBA would get the Kobe, Lebron contracts, but they don't cause it doesn't make that revenue as the more recognize sports teams out there, not to be mean. So like I said, people just stop complaining, your still going to watch football and basketball, the world won't end, just big time athletes get big time money, the way it's always been and it will stay that way. for my next blog, i'm going to address the issue in collegiate sports football and basketball, should players be aloud to leave early for the pros? is the rule to benefit the players or the organization? and my blog following that one will be the issue on whether college athletes should be paid while attending and playing in school. please leave comments let me know how your thoughts and opinions, this is Wayne signing off.
